Summer sun, coffee and a market in the vines

You can't beat the Hawke's Bay on a summers day. With temperatures rising to high twenties we ventured out early to enjoy breakfast with friends and get a walk in before it got too hot.

Living in Havelock North allowed us to walk to one of our favorite cafes/restaurants Brother (https://www.brotherhawkesbay.com/). Not only is the food delicious but it's pet-friendly too. There is a large shaded eating area, which is always welcoming on days like today. The staff and food are great. The setting is lovely with rows of vines visible from where you sit.

While there is a good amount of parking, you need to arrive early to get a shaded parking spot. At times, due to its popularity, you may find yourself needing to park on the road side.

With breakfast done, we said farewell to our friends and continue on our walk. Mind you that involved a quick stroll to the Saturday summer market (https://www.blackbarn.com/market) across the road, at Black Barn. This is considerably smaller than the regular and much larger Sunday Hawke's Bay Farmers Market located in Hastings (https://hawkesbayfarmersmarket.co.nz/). On a hot day like today, the Black Barn market is a blessing as it's is set in a stand of tall trees providing shade as you enjoy sampling all the market has to offer.

While I'd go there for brunch, today was just to pick up some freshly baked bread.

The market offers freshly brewed coffee, beautiful fresh produce to enjoy. Could I suggest you try one of Dave's mouth watering hot dogs. You'll just have to trust me on the hotdogs, I'll be sharing more about Dave and his hotdogs with you in a few weeks.

Definitely, a great way to spend a Saturday morning if you're visiting over a weekend.

Travel notes:

Black Barn market is open from 10am to 1pm. Saturday over summer.

Hawke's Bay farmers market is every Sunday
